2009 marks the return of the NFS franchise to its former glory. Also, it finally gave the 360 the edge over the PS3 as far as realistic racers are concerned. Other than that, the year saw smooth sailing in all sports areas, with the obvious exception of the Street Fighter franchise making a successful plunge into 3D.

When Codemasters started their four letter word racing game streak, we were all afraid the series would go downhill. Fortunately, the exact opposite is happening, with each game in the franchise being better than the last. And that is saying a lot! |

Gran Tourismo or Forza? Up until recently, there was no clear answer. But until the black console manages to produce a new title in the GT series, Forza 3 is without doubt the best grand scale realistic racer that money can buy. |

NHL 10

Burly men in reinforced clothing, using sticks to propel a puck into the opposing goal. Sounds as primal as it gets. And no game does the sport more justice than NHL 10. If you don’t want to end up bruised, this is the way to play hockey. |

We hate EA. Why? Because they make such an awesome FIFA game for next-gen consoles, and throw a comparatively inferior version at the PC market. PC-only gamers, you don’t know what you are missing. |

As kids, we often got into scrapes with our friends. Now, as grown men, we do the same, only with more bruises, swelling and sweat! Thankfully, it is all digital. You would not be able to tell it apart by looking at it though! |

Hadouken! The reigning arcade fighter is back with a vengeance. It might look old-gen at first glance, but those 2D sprites are in fact 3D models, beautifully rendered and superbly animated. And yes, the gameplay is still perfect. |
