Metal Gear Solid has been one of the most popular franchises throughout gaming history and with the release of Guns Of The Patriots many Playstation 3 owners are hoping this is the exclusive title to finally put their console firmly on the map. Has creator Hideo Kojima succeeded?

The Grand Theft Auto series has been the jewel in Rockstars crown for a long time and the latest incarnation has been surrounded with unparalleled speculation for well over a year now. Surely no game could live up to this hype? Well once again it seems that Rockstar have proved us wrong, everything they touch truly does turn to gold because Grand Theft Auto 4 is quite possibly the best game I have ever played, period.

The World Ends With You is Square Enix's latest release on the Nintendo DS, however instead of crafting a fantasy world environment the game is refreshingly set in Tokyo's real life Shibuya district.
Shibuya is a confusing place and you are instantly assailed with noise and incoming cellphone texts, the environment immediately put me in mind of Sega's Jet Set Radio, both on a visual and aural level (which is not a bad thing).

I don't know about the rest of you guys, but MMOs tend to have a very strange effect on me. When starting a new title I literally get sucked into them, spending hours upon hours of my free time just exploring, leveling up and having fun. But after a few weeks of playing something happens. I'm not entirely sure where things go awry, but sooner or later I come to the startling realization that I'm not having fun anymore. This has happened to me with Star Wars Galaxies, Vanguard and even World of Warcraft. But not with Everquest 2. Granted, I don't play it constantly and often take entire months off it. But with SOE pushing out a new expansion every few months (at least it feels this way) I can't help but being drawn back in to experience all the fresh content. The question is how long they can keep doing this – after all doing the same thing over and over again inevitably loses its pull.

Guild Wars games were always about giving players a fresh start, offering something new with only the core mechanics following the old rules. Leaving behind the war ravaged lands of Tyria from Prophecies, players embarked on a crusade against opposing factions in the Chinese themed Factions and later fought against evil in the Egyptian-like lands of Nightfall. But while all of these adventures offered plenty for all, veterans who have been playing the series since the start never got a real chance to take one of their favorite characters somewhere beyond. Eye of the North aims to give all GW lovers the opportunity to do just that.

Welcome back! Last time we took a closer look at how stories and storytelling evolved through the years. This time we’ll take a look at something more interesting – the graphics. This subject can be both insanely interesting and dauntingly boring depending on the way we look at it. For this article we’ll try to avoid the boring technical terms and look at the changes from a more relaxed perspective, so expect lots of pictures and possibly even more observations.

Gamers across the world, old and young alike, take most of what we see in games today as granted. Arcade games with no story are almost extinct and most of us are shocked if a game doesn't support 7.1 surround sound or if the game-play is painstakingly hard. But believe it or not, things were completely different just a few years ago.

The term MMORPG (Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game) is relatively new to the gaming scene. As the name suggests games of this genre put large amounts of players into a role playing environment (typically a fantasy world). Obviously the nature of playing requires access to the internet, preferably via a broadband connection. Since most of the world is only now getting proper broad band infrastructure it comes as no surprise that MMO games have only recently started to gain true popularity.
