Torchlight (PC) Review @ GH

Read The Review Here

Are you a fan of Diablo? Do you long for days when games didnt need to have DX11 effects and cutting edge engine technology to win you over? Torchlight might be the answer to your prayers, because it focuses entirely on gameplay and puts a twisted yet very interesting slant on the 'Diablo' genre.

Good review. It looks like a great dungeon crawler. I never found Diablo 1-2 that interesting, but this could one day change my mind.

Re: Torchlight (PC) Review @ GH

Yeah its a pretty fun game, only played it for 20 mins, but quite a lot of combat which is always appealing, right?

Nice review!
The game is very enjoyable especially for the fans of hack 'n' slash.
However, it's very easy and short
For it's price is a safe bet for good entertaining

This is where we get to the biggest limitation of the game, the overall setting. Now, I don’t know about you, but I like to be involved in some kind of fantasy based cohesive storyline - in Torchlight however you are never really immersed into the world
This ruins it for me. I like to feel like I'm accomplishing SOMETHING instead of just killing and looting (which is why I quit my WoW trial with 4 days left to play Zelda:OoT). But it's been getting such positive reactions...hmm.

From what I know Torchlight has an ending, so it isn't a never ending torture like MMORPGs.

Re: Torchlight (PC) Review @ GH

The Mod SDK hasn't even been out that long, and already we're seeing a bunch of decent mods come out, such as the one that turns the entire GUI into that of Diablos, or one called "I Am Death Incarnate" which changes all the difficulty levels, fame, and drops accordingly.

Also, there's a tool for all you guys wanting a little harder game that unlocks the Hardcore mode for your character (the tool allows you to change their difficulty, retire or unretire them, turn on Hardcore mode, or kill/resurrect them). It's called Torchlight Util.
