Resident Evil 5 was released on the consoles around 6 months ago and it was positively received by both critics and more importantly the public. It brought together some of the franchises classic characters and combined a few of the best elements of previous releases for the finest release to date. The addition of cooperative mode increased the overall enjoyment and ensured healthy sales. Today we look at the PC version which has been much awaited.

Thanks for the review. I tried the game a bit on the 360 but I found the controls very inaccurate and slow. This looks like a good port to PC and it is one of the games to eventually get.

I had a play myself tonight, very impressive - on a 285 GTX with a phenom 965 black edition it was smooth as butter with 8AA @ 2560x1600.

Yeah, I guess Konami learned from RE4 PC.
The game looks great.

I tried it earlier and was surprised at how well it ran. Didn't see any FPS drops on an 8800 GTX, Core 2 Duo 3.0GHz. Tested on 1680x1050 with no AA, otherwise maxed settings.

Not bragging or anything, just leaving this here for people interested who have similar specs.

I skipped this on the 360 due to the mixed reviews and I found the demo controls hard to get used to, however, the PC demo ran so beautifully that I can't wait to play this game the whole way through on a PC.

i dont know if it was mentioned in the review, i only glanced through it, but they do towards the end of the game.

thankfully this is supposed to be the end of resident evil as it sits. the next game is supposed to be a series reboot. i really hope they go back to the survival horror rather then the... shoot everything that moves kind of game it is right now.

This game isn't as great as I thought it would be. Controls are a bit too clunky and cumbersome and hinders the gameplay in many places. Maybe it's better with a controller but I wouldn't know. I also found that the difficulty wasn't too progressive either (having that big guy with the huge axe hand my ass to me wasn't too fun).

I did notice that the AI is pretty stupid, but at the same time it isn't supposed to be groundbreaking. But why show a cutscene where the infected run over to me Left 4 Dead style, only to have them slowly walk over when actual gameplay returns?

Still, it's not that bad of a game, just I don't think it deserves the high 9s like some review sites give it.

I have to say I really do disagree, I think its one of the best games this year. I think the AI works great for a George Romero style of zombie 'film' - no one expects a zombie to start flanking and taking cover. they all look great, lumber well and have the odd burst and charge to keep you on your toes. As for the big guy with the axe, do you mean one of the first compounds? you really just avoid him as much as possible by running across the rooftops until support arrives and blasts open the gate with air to ground missiles - it is actually pretty easy to just avoid him while laying into him the odd time with bullets and walking up for a punch.

the controls I found actually better than the console version because you have now keys for quick access to your inventory as well as options to turn 180 degrees and run like hell and also a key for a last ditch swipe up close. In fairness however I feel all the resident evil games are 'clunky' to a certain degree but this one is actually easier to play than the console version, which at times was very very frustrating. I did beat it mind you but playing the PC version seemed to be much more intuitive for me.

Guess thats just my view on it, people will disagree! (I do agree, high 9's is much too high a score for it mind you)

I meant for your teamate, does she still waste all the ammo and meds you have her hold while running straight into the middle of a swarming zombie horde? I'm not a big fan of babysitting sh*tty AI.

Also can the quick turn controls be set on a 360 controller? Like back +action in RE4?

Didn't quite like it , they've copied 2 things I disliked in Dead space. First: the "stupid person" camera view , I don't know who invented this . It is annoying to see your character in the left while you shoot things on the right side of the screen , why just don't make it like any other FPS . Second :I don't have to watch two men forcing another man to eat some $hit to figure out that this is a horror game , this way is disgusting not terrifying besides the million flies around corpses and dead animals
