Grand Theft Auto 4 (PC) Review @ GH
Read The Review Here
_________________________ Grand Theft Auto was a big seller on the consoles earlier this year and deservedly so ... It told the story of immigrant Niko Bellic's adventures through the crime infested Liberty City. The PC version is upon us now and there are some new additions, including support for 32 multiplayer matches and an editor for making and recording clips from your in game sessions. |

Re: Grand Theft Auto 4 (PC) Review @ GH
Good review.
I am a bit worried about the performance, many people in the steam forums scream about low performance of this title. I would already have it if not for Steam not accepting my payment for some reason. Do you think my system would handle everything or most things at full details at 1680x1050? The main reason I didn't buy the Xbox 360 version was the graphics that looked like **** to me.

If your 4870X2 and Quad Core can't handle this game maxed out then there's no hope for any of us
![]() I saw some screens from someone with that GPU and their framerate was good at high resolutions. I'd expect it'll get even better when a hotfix driver comes out.

Re: Grand Theft Auto 4 (PC) Review @ GH
Before you buy it go and read the various forums about the game. It appears it will be a major headache for many PC gamers. Gamespy apparently cut and pasted it's own console review and gave it a high PC rating. ANY superficial review (including this one here)that completely ignores the problems in the game and the hassle that many PC gamers are having, aren't worth the bandwidth used to share it. BTW, any mention of the limited input options?? Make sure you have some gamepad to play!!!

I've noticed some texture problems in the game similar to one i encountered in mass effect and I dont normally screen shot em, so sorry, but anyone remember the first planet you land on in mass effect? and the huge REAVEr spaceship is there? Well its encased in like a block texture, and i ewncountered that as well as a few black textures when riding around liberty city. |

I love the GTA games. Was barely able to play San Andreas. Any hope for this old system for the new game?

Nope, won't even render on your system. Go on youtube and type in GTA IV on 6600GT and you will see what I mean. I believe the game requires a video card that supports Shader Model 3.0 or higher in the first place so your out of luck. Last edited by Zebra_204; Dec 9, 2008 at 01:29 AM. |

Yea, I know it won't play as it is. I probably need more than just a video card too. Wondering if it is even possible to upgrade enough with this Motherboard and CPU.

In the end you will have to completely build a new rig with more modern equipment or get a console. And going how the PC version isn't doing so hot (performance aside) the console version would be the most convenient way to play the game. Sorry. System Req. Dual/Quad core CPU at 2.4GHz or higher. Memory 1.5 GB (Windows XP) 2GB (Windows Vista) Graphics Hardware - 512MB ATI 3870, 512MB Nvidia 8800 Sound Hardware 100% DirectX 9.0c compliant card Network Internet connection required for activation and multiplayer Last edited by Zebra_204; Dec 9, 2008 at 01:40 AM. |
