Tomb Raider: Underworld (PC) Review @ GH

Read The Review Here

Lara Croft is undoubtedly one of the most well known game icons across the globe and Eidos have released the latest installment Underworld to capitalise on the success of Legend ... which was a great title. The question we aim to answer today, is this another archaeologist journey worth paying for?

Looks like a good game. Even if EIDOS try their best to ruin any chance it has.

What is the DRM for the PC version? The review sold the game to me, but it depends on the DRM too.

Your favorite: Securom.

I have the 360 version sitting here, unopened, but I'm contemplating taking it back, and exchanging it for the PC version even if it does use Securom. This is one of the first reviews I've seen mention a comparison between the console version and the PC version. Even if only a small comparison it was enough to make me reconsider keeping this version.

Is it the online activation version?

Nope.

But I have to admit, I just wanted to see your reaction.

Eidos has always stated that they don't use the DRM features of Securom, just the disc check. Although, they've never said that they would never use it, but I have a feeling that the main reason they don't right now is money. It costs them extra money to have Securom handle the activation stuff. Whether this is a yearly maintenance fee, or a one time fee, I don't know, but it makes sense.

Re: Tomb Raider: Underworld (PC) Review @ GH

Ive played both 360 and PC versions. While I love using the 360 controller, the resolution and quality differences are massive. To be fair, I did use 3 280GTXs in tri-sli and I was seeing 90fps+ at 2560x1600 with AA enabled.

Perfect configuration would be a high end PC and a 360 controller wired into the PC for the controls.....

very enjoyable though.

If the game is actualy good (as I believe it is) why would EIDOS do something as stupid as they did? Stupidity?

For me, excellent review, sold the game to me although EIDOS try their best to stop it.

Re: Tomb Raider: Underworld (PC) Review @ GH

Well the funny thing is my dealings with Eidos are quite the reverse. we get the games, they never get involved with anything in the review process. As a regular I would hope you would already know the score is genuine, however for those new to the site just felt I needed to say it.

It never crossed my mind that they would try (or at least succeed) with something like this and DH/GH and it was never my intention to imply at any level that you have been affected by any such move.

I believe that most sites wouldn't agree with this either, mostly because it is so stupid to fall for their threats, when they need "you" as much as "you" need them. What is EIDOS going to do, stop sending games for reviews? cut ad space? Who is going to hurt more, the sites across the interweb or EIDOS that only has one source of income, selling their games?
